About

Pat Frederick is a Minnesota born musician, singer songwriter who is in the MN Music Hall of Fame, and the MN Rock & Country Hall of Fame. His awards include the MN Music Award for Best Violinist and Best Band, an Emmy, a National Parents Choice Award, an ISES Award, and a Telly Award.

As an unruly child with ADD and six siblings, Pat would escape to the bedroom to flail along on snare drum to WDGY blasting from the radio stolen from his mother’s kitchen. By age twelve he had discovered the psychedelic, new grass San Francisco band “Sea Train” with master fiddler Richard Greene, and there was no looking back.

‍ ‍At twenty years of age Pat became a founding member of seminal MN country rock act, the “Daisy Dillman Band.” They were soon recording for RCA and United Artist Records and touring behind successful national releases; Their 1978 United Artists LP produced by David Z at Sound 80 in Minneapolis peaked at 136 on the Record World album chart. Their follow up RCA Records release “Loving the Night Away,” was produced by legendary producer Rick Hall at Fame Studios, Muscle Shoals Alabama. Pat co-wrote and sang the RCA  Single “Loving the Night Away,” charting at 46 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Pat has performed across the United States in storied venues like the Lone Star Café(NYC), the Palomino (LA), Danny Seraphine's Beginnings (CHI), and the Legendary Armadillo World Headquarters (Austin TX). He has been back up musician and vocalist to many notable artists including Vince Gill, David Byrne (Talking Heads), Kenny Loggins, Michael Johnson, Paulette Carlson & Highway 101, Garrison Keillor,  Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson (ABBA). Pat shared the stage with the legendary Cab Calloway in Cab’s final MN appearance.

Musical & Creative Director

Pat has served as music director for theatrical productions at the Ordway Theaters, Music Box Theater and Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, He has performed and served as Creative Director / Producer for countless corporate events across the country including: Staples Corp Anniversary featuring Sting, Mandaley Bay Center Las Vegas, the Grand Reopening of Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Centennial Gala for the Science Museum of Minnesota, Austin MN Spam Museum Jams and the Grand Reopening of Minnesota Public Radio. Pat was producer for the 25th Anniversary of the nationally renowned Madeline Island Music Camp featuring Osmo Vanska (Conductor, MN Orchestra,) the Pacifica Quartet, and Jorja Fleezanis, (Concert Mistress, MN Orchestra.) Pat has performed, produced and recorded in studio with artists such as Bobby McFerrin, Peter Oshtrousko, David Hungate (Toto,) producers Steve Gibson, David Malloy (Nashville TN,) Tom Tucker (Paisley Park) Rick Hall (Muscle Shoals,) David Z and Ricky Peterson.
